Arrive at Leh airport to be met by an Oriental Travel representative who will transfer you to the Hotel. After check-in and complementary tea or coffee, we recommend you rest for the remainder of the day to help you adjust to the higher altitude of Leh. Lunch and dinner are provided followed by a restful night in the Oriental Hotel.
Following breakfast a full day of sight-seeing starting with visits to Basgo Palace and Likir monastery before reaching the unique Alchi monastery (60 km). Once at Alchi - you can explore this exceptional historically cultural site as well as the surrounding village. Dinner and accommodation is in Alchi village.
After breakfast, continue on through the scenic Indus gorges to the famous Lamayuru monastery. After taking in the monastery sites and fabulous surroundings, we return to Leh by evening to overnight in the Oriental Hotel.
Depart from Leh after breakfast for a long (about 230 km) but scenic drive, mainly alongside the Indus river to Tso Moriri (tso = lake)- one of the most spectacularly beautiful lakes in Ladakh. On the way we can stop at the natural hotsprings in Chumathang before arriving at the lake. Here a luxury tent camp is your accommodation, and once established you are encouraged to take an evening stroll alongside the mountain-ringed lake shore.
In the morning, after a relaxed breakfast, you have time for another stroll along the shore to catch the lake in another of its moods. Then, it is off back to Leh with dinner and bed at the Oriental Hotel.
A spectacular 40 km drive from Leh to Khardung la (la = pass), the world's highest motorable road which reaches 5,300 m (18380 feet). After returning to Leh for lunch. For the remainder of the day you are free to explore the local markets, or walk from the Hotel to nearby Sankar monastery. One last dinner and overnight at the Oriental Hotel.
An early start around 6.00 am to the airport to allow you to catch your flight back to Delhi.
